Death By Covid

We've been drowning in Covid for the past two years.  Though things seem to be getting better and more controlled, there are certain individuals who are insistent upon reserving their right to not be vaccinated or even wear masks.  Interesting as when we were children, we were lined up to receive our shots so that we could attend school.  There were no defiant parents threatening to bring guns to the classrooms in protest to mandates that are meant to save lives.  The type of person who is SO vocal with their ideas of "self-determination" are the ones who are dying for their beliefs.  They seem not to believe in the betterment of the whole, but just their own selfish needs.  This excerpt is from an article published in National Geographic by Jillian Kramer.  This sums up my thoughts regarding the attitudes of anti-vaxxers:

"Those human tendencies -- to believe whatever satisfies our preconceptions, whether true or not -- were part of our lives long before rioters defiled the Capitol.  And amid the pandemic, misinformation has seemingly run amuck."

There's a strangeness to these individuals who are willing to die instead of doing anything to forestall the spread of Covid.  They tell you what they WON'T do, but have no solutions about how to slow the spread of the virus.  All they know is what they construe as "freedom."  Freedom from what?  A scary defiance which has killed so many unvaccinated people.  You know, the ones who defiantly stated they wouldn't receive a vaccination, but end up in the hospital gasping for their last breath.

There was a State Trooper here in Washington state who quit his job.  He stated that it was his last broadcast from his patrol car and that Gov. Inslee could "kiss his ass."  It sounded like a suicide speech and it was.  He died two days ago from Covid.  Unfortunately, there are many more of this type of person who know there's a virus and still refuse to wear masks or get vaccinated.  "Masks and vaccines don't work," they say.  So, does that mean the next time you have a procedure you won't mind if none of the medical staff wore masks?  I doubt it!  Interesting how they skim over facts to create their own version of what is medically proven.

I'm surprised by the amount of people who are willing to die for their strange beliefs.  My feeling is that there has always been an underlying segment of our population who have been dissatisfied with government laws and mandates, and that this deathly defiance was fueled by the ex-President.  They had found a voice from a madman who left them to fend for themselves.  It is terrifying that the mindset of those who KNOW there's a deadly virus out here, but still refuse to vaccinate themselves against it.  Does this mean these people won't get adult boosters because it's their "right?"  Yes, it's their right not to be vaccinated for anything they don't want to be vaccinated against, but they shouldn't be allowed to clog our hospitals because they made their choice to be unprotected.

I'm not preaching to the choir any more.  Everyone is on their own in regards to how they chose to live or die.  This is the beginning of The Change and they are too engrossed in their own ideologies to see the world is changing with or without them.  Well, definitely without them.  I will explain why I call the struggles within our society as The Change in a later post.
